Until 7 September, 1,175 roadworks sites – 83 per cent of those currently active (1,414) – will be closed or suspended.” According to estimates from Anas’s Road Mobility Observatory, between today and Sunday 9 August, there will be over 25 million vehicle journeys on the roads and motorways managed by the FS Group company. “Safety must be the guiding principle for every journey,” said Anas’s Chief Executive, Claudio Andrea Gemme. “Adhering to speed limits, maintaining a safe following distance, avoiding distractions whilst driving and taking regular breaks during longer journeys are essential behaviours for preventing accidents and contributing to smoother, safer traffic flow. “The days marked by the ‘black sticker’,” continued Gemme, “coincide with the peak of summer travel and require even greater caution from all road users. We are therefore appealing to travellers to plan their journeys in advance, checking traffic conditions, the roadworthiness of their vehicle and the weather forecast before setting off.”
