Rome, Aug. 10 (LaPresse) – Valter Lavitola has been arrested and taken to prison on charges of being the alleged mastermind behind the attack against Sigfrido Ranucci, host of Report. Lavitola was served with a pre-trial detention order signed by Judge for Preliminary Investigations Iole Moricca of the Rome court, as part of the Rome Prosecutor’s Office investigation into the attack that took place on October 16, 2025, outside Ranucci’s house in Pomezia. According to investigators, Lavitola allegedly commissioned the attack from the four people already arrested as the perpetrators. The charges include possession, carrying in a public place and use of an explosive device, threats and criminal damage, with mafia-style methods and aggravated by the number of associates exceeding five. Lavitola had rejected the accusations, claiming he was not the mastermind.
