Messina, Aug. 20 (LaPresse) – The Cultural Heritage Department of the Sicilian Region has transferred the four custodians, two women and two men, who were on duty at the regional museum in Messina on the evening of Ferragosto when four works by Antonello da Messina were stolen. The four had already been placed on forced leave. They have now been transferred to other Cultural Heritage sites in Messina. The four did not alert law enforcement to the theft in progress; one of them switched off the alarm system, believing it was a false alarm. Disciplinary proceedings have been opened against them, which could also lead to dismissal.
