(LaPresse) – The man believed to be responsible for the death of Guido Roviello, a 62-year-old homeless man killed on the afternoon of 19 August following a violent attack in Piazza Sant’Anna in Caserta, has been identified and arrested by officers of the Caserta branch of the Guardia di Finanza on charges of aggravated murder. According to initial reports, the man – a 40-year-old Romanian national who is also homeless – allegedly attacked Roviello in broad daylight for failing to pay a debt of 50 euros. Investigators, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, identified him by gathering statements from witnesses at the scene and analysing CCTV footage. When questioned by the public prosecutor, the 40-year-old admitted to the offences and was arrested on suspicion of murder aggravated by trivial motives; this arrest was upheld by the investigating magistrate, who ordered his remand in custody.
