Turin, 9 Sept. (LaPresse) – In addition to the body of a 78-year-old woman, her 75-year-old brother was also found dead inside their flat in Moncalieri (Turin), on the eleventh floor of a block of flats. The alarm was raised by neighbours, who became suspicious due to a strong odour coming from the flat. According to initial reports, the man, Roberto, who was suffering from cancer, is believed to have killed his sister, Rosella Borchiotti, who was deaf and mute, by striking her with a metal bar, before taking his own life by hanging himself. A note was also reportedly found in the flat in which the man explained his actions, referring to his suffering, the fact that he was looking after his sister, and the deterioration of his own health. The two bodies, which may have been in the flat for several days, were found in the bedroom. Further investigations, including a post-mortem examination, will clarify the timing and exact circumstances of the two deaths. The brother had recently undergone surgery related to his cancer. The note was found attached to a door of the bedroom wardrobe where the two bodies lay; the woman’s body had several head injuries. Carabinieri from the Moncalieri detachment, together with 118 paramedics and the fire brigade, attended the scene yesterday evening. The investigation, coordinated by the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office, is being handled by officers from the operational section of the Moncalieri Carabinieri unit.
