Milan, 10 Sept. (LaPresse) – Milan’s bunker courtroom rendered unusable due to bad weather; the trial of the so-called ‘supermafia’ or ‘three-headed mafia’ in Lombardy has been suspended. The hearing scheduled for this morning has been cancelled following the collapse of the false ceiling in the bunker courtroom at San Vittore Prison, caused by the heavy rains which have been lashing the Lombardy capital since Wednesday evening. Photographs taken this morning in the courtroom in Piazza Filangieri – which historically hosts mafia trials but in recent years has been the scene of Silvio Berlusconi’s acquittal in the first ‘ Ruby ter’ trial and the trial of Milan and Inter ultras for criminal association within the San Siro stands, show torn-out panels and pieces of ceiling on the floor, having fallen onto electrical cables and audio-recording equipment. This situation has rendered the premises unusable and made it impossible for judges, court clerks, prosecutors and lawyers to proceed with the second trial (some defendants have already received a verdict in summary proceedings) against the consortium of members of the ‘Ndrangheta, Camorra and Cosa Nostra, who are alleged to have formed an unprecedented alliance in Lombardy to divide up business interests and control the territory. The hearing did not even begin and has been adjourned until 16 September at the courthouse on Corso di Porta Vittoria, in the Court of Assizes of Appeal.
