(LaPresse) – The Parma Public Prosecutor’s Office has lodged an appeal against the acquittal of Chiara Petrolini for the murder of her first child, the newborn who was born and died on 12 May 2023, and was subsequently buried in the garden of her home. The young woman from Traversetolo was sentenced in April to 24 years and three months for the premeditated murder of her second child, born on 7 August 2024; however, the judges at first instance found there was insufficient evidence to prove that the first child had been born alive. The prosecutors are also insisting on a conviction for the disposal of a corpse in both cases: the original judgement had reclassified the second incident as the less serious offence of concealing a body.
