Rome, 14 September (LaPresse) – The Turin Supervisory Court has rejected the request to suspend the sentence pending the President of the Republic’s decision on a pardon for Mario Roggero, the 72-year-old jeweller from Cuneo sentenced to 14 years and nine months for killing two robbers and wounding a third during the raid on his shop in April 2021. Roggero is being held in Bollate. At the hearing on 9 September, his lawyer, Stefano Marcolini, had requested a postponement of the sentence and, in the alternative, house arrest, pending the outcome of the application for a pardon submitted to the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. A hearing on the same application is scheduled for 16 September at the Milan Supervisory Court.
