Rome, 18 Sept. (LaPresse) – An Italian Eurofighter F-2000 fighter jet was hit and damaged during an attack on the Ta’if airbase in Saudi Arabia, where Italian personnel are deployed as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. The news was reported by the Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, who last night followed “personally and with the utmost attention, and in contact with the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Luciano Portolano, the development of the situation in Saudi Arabia and in particular at Ta’if Air Base, which has been the target of several attacks”. Crosetto assures that “no Italian military personnel were involved” and explains that “an Italian F-2000 aircraft, which was located within the base in a remote area, was hit in the attack. There has been no other damage to vehicles or infrastructure used by our personnel”.
