Evidently, someone from the opposition.” This was how the Minister for Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, responded to journalists regarding the suggestion that children might be removed from families who did not follow the Italian language learning programmes set out in a draft decree. The decree instead provides for fines of up to 1,000 euros, as the minister himself clarified at a press conference following the Council of Ministers meeting.
