Camorra: DIA seizes €5 million from a businessman with links to the Desiderio clan

Rome, 30 Sept. (LaPresse) – The DIA (Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate) has enforced a confiscation order for 5 million euros against a businessman from Mercato San Severino, in the province of Salerno. Companies, property and financial assets have been seized. The businessman is suspected of belonging to the ‘Desiderio’ Camorra clan. The confiscation followed the discovery of a discrepancy between his actual available assets and his declared income; it involved a factory, three entire business groups operating in the sector of equipment set-up and hire for the organisation of trade fairs and events, a sole trader operating in the catering sector, shares in a pension fund and postal savings certificates.
