Rome, 2 Oct. (LaPresse) – Killed during a punitive raid in Rebibbia prison. As a result, five inmates were served with a pre-trial detention order at dawn today for the murder of a cellmate, aggravated by trivial motives. The order was executed by the NIC (Central Investigative Unit of the Rome Prison Police), under the coordination of the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office. The events date back to June 2025. According to the investigators’ reconstruction of events – building on the initial enquiries launched by the Rebibbia Prison Command – the suspects are alleged to have organised a punitive ambush. During the incident, the victim was attacked and struck repeatedly whilst in bed. As a result of the beating, the man suffered a severe head injury and a severe cerebral haemorrhage. He was rushed to hospital, where he remained in care for around six months before dying as a result of his injuries.
