Ustica: Rome investigating judge overturns request to dismiss case and orders further investigations

Rome, 2 Oct. (LaPresse) – The investigating judge at the Court of Rome, Livio Sabatini, has returned the case files on the proceedings concerning the Ustica massacre of 27 June 1980 to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and ordered further investigations. The decision comes after Chief Prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi withdrew his request to dismiss the case, in light of France’s willingness to transfer all documentation relating to the disaster to Italy. On that evening, the Itavia DC-9 crashed into the Tyrrhenian Sea, killing 81 people.
