Rome, 3 Oct. (LaPresse) – Pope Leo has accepted Monsignor Bruno Forte’s resignation from the pastoral leadership of the Archdiocese of Chieti-Vasto and has appointed the Franciscan Cardinal Mauro Gambetti as his successor. The cardinal is stepping down from his roles as the Pope’s Vicar General for Vatican City, Archpriest of St Peter’s Basilica and President of the Fabbrica di San Pietro. Gambetti, aged 55, was appointed by Pope Francis to lead the Basilica on 20 February 2021.
