Milan, 9 Oct. (LaPresse) – “At best, mistakes were made – perhaps due to carelessness or negligence – but I cannot rule anything out because too many things do not add up.” This is what lawyer Claudio Salvagni, defence counsel for Massimo Bossetti – alongside his colleague Paolo Camporini, who has been definitively sentenced to life imprisonment for the death of Yara Gambirasio – told LaPresse following the decision by the Bergamo Assize Court to reject the request to carry out further analyses, particularly on two pieces of evidence from the investigation, which he describes as “colossal errors”. “We have evidence from the metadata that the DNA identified as ‘Unknown 1’ and subsequently attributed to Bossetti does not come from ‘trace 31G20’, the fragment from Yara Gambirasio’s knickers,” he states. “So the question is: where does that ‘Unknown 1’ DNA, subsequently attributed to Bossetti, come from? What is the origin of that fluid?” In light of this “metadata”, the lawyers for the Mapello bricklayer continue, “it can be stated that that fluid does not come from that trace”, from the fragment taken from the 13-year-old’s knickers. The analyses and tests that Bossetti’s defence team intends to carry out “are intended to rule out any tampering and to ensure that everything was carried out to the highest standards”. “If we draw a parallel with the Garlasco case, then that is 1 and this is 100,” he emphasises.
