Rome, 13 Oct. (LaPresse) – “Nobody expected it, but these are God’s surprises.” This was how the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, responded to journalists on the sidelines of an event at the Gregorian University on John Paul I, when asked whether the announcement of the Pope’s illness had come as a bolt from the blue. “I am concerned, but thank God it has been detected, and normally, when such issues are caught in time, they can be resolved,” added the cardinal, who then highlighted the affection the people have shown towards the Pope in recent hours.
