Naples, 15 Oct. (LaPresse) – “The analyses” carried out by the experts appointed by the investigating magistrate as part of the investigation into the death of Liliana Resinovich “have revealed the presence of a trace attributable to an as yet unidentified individual, the significance of which and its possible relevance to the reconstruction of the facts will certainly require further investigation”. This was stated by lawyers Paolo and Alice Bevilacqua, defence counsel for Sebastiano Visintin, the husband of the 63-year-old woman from Trieste found dead on 5 January 2022 and the sole suspect in the murder. The expert report submitted by the experts appointed by the investigating magistrate in Trieste concerned biological traces, hair samples and genetic profiles found on the victim’s body and on certain items linked to her. The report is now being examined by the defence and technical consultants, ahead of the expert hearing scheduled for 30 October. “Of particular significance,” the lawyers emphasise, “is the fact that no DNA trace attributable to Sebastiano was found on the cord wrapped around Liliana’s neck. This is a scientific finding which this defence considers worthy of the utmost attention, particularly in relation to the provisional charge. Whilst we are aware that the absence of a genetic trace does not, on its own, allow for definitive conclusions, this circumstance cannot be overlooked and must be given due consideration in the overall assessment of the investigative evidence.”
