Rome, Oct. 19 (LaPresse) – Eight arrests and more than 800 doses of drugs seized, weighing approximately four kilograms in total. This is the outcome of anti-drug checks carried out by the State Police’s Falchi units in the eastern outskirts of Rome, from Casal Bruciato to Ponte di Nona and Tor Bella Monaca, via Quarticciolo. Among the hiding places uncovered by investigators were cocaine and hashish concealed among cat food, shoeboxes and cat carriers, as well as a camper van used as a mobile distribution point with its engine switched off. Officers from the sixth section of the Flying Squad arrested eight people in the act. In Casal Bruciato, after a young man was found with 20 packets of cocaine hidden in a cigarette packet, a search of his home revealed a concealment system spread throughout the rooms, where everyday objects had been turned into hiding places for drugs. In the living room, 257 doses of cocaine had been tucked between packets of cat food and shoeboxes. Inside a cat carrier, officers found 23 bars of hashish and another 37 small bags of the same substance. In the bedroom, a further 440 doses of cocaine had been hidden under the bed, while packets and knives still stained with drugs were recovered from a chest of drawers. On the balcony, a safe contained part of the proceeds. In the storage room, officers found precision scales, vacuum-packing machines and hundreds of small bags, as well as a notebook containing dates, figures and references to different types of cocaine, used to keep the accounts. The seized material included approximately four kilograms of cocaine and hashish and more than €1,000 in cash. The young man and his mother, who lived in the apartment that had been converted into a storage base, were arrested.
