Rome, October 21 (LaPresse) – He took advantage of family ties and the hospitality received from the family to repeatedly abuse a 12-year-old girl. A 50-year-old man was arrested by the State Police in Tivoli, in the province of Rome, on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a minor. A video filmed by the victim herself during one of the alleged incidents also incriminated him. The investigation by the Rome Flying Squad began last April, following a report of the abuse the 12-year-old girl allegedly suffered from her father’s cousin. According to investigators’ reconstruction, the incidents began in the summer of 2025, when the man, along with his partner, was a guest at the family home. Other incidents reportedly occurred during several car trips to the family’s vacation destination. It was during one of these trips that the 12-year-old girl managed to film what was happening, providing investigators with evidence. The investigations by the Fourth Section of the Flying Squad, coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office, led to the issuance of a precautionary detention order by the Court of Review, which was subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court of Cassation. The order was executed by State Police officers.
