Milan, 22 Oct. (LaPresse) – Three Molotov cocktails were found by the Carabinieri in Somma Vesuviana (Naples) in the car of a non-commissioned officer in the Italian Army. The man, aged 45, was arrested for the unlawful possession of explosive materials and transferred to Poggioreale prison. The Carabinieri made the discovery after arriving at the scene of an accident involving the vehicle driven by the soldier – a Toyota – and a Fiat Panda, in which a couple were travelling, to provide first aid. One of the bottles had broken on impact, whilst another was partially empty; the third, however, was ready for use. The Carabinieri alerted the emergency services (118) regarding the injured parties in the accident, whilst the area was secured, partly thanks to the intervention of the bomb disposal experts from the Provincial Command of Naples. The soldier was taken to Nola Hospital and will be discharged with a prognosis of 10 days’ recovery for the injuries sustained in the accident. The couple, who were uninvolved in the incident, are unharmed.
