Rome, 23 Oct. (LaPresse) – Pope Leo XIV will not be in Assisi on 27 October to take part in the ‘Unarmed and Disarming Peace’ meeting, marking the 40th anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for Peace convened by St John Paul II. The decision was taken on the advice of doctors, to allow the Pontiff to recover following last week’s thoracic surgery. The Pope will, however, send a message to the organisers, the leaders and representatives of Christian denominations and other religions, as well as to the guests. In the message, he will express his support for the initiative, reaffirming the value of the “spirit of Assisi”, of dialogue and of the search for words and gestures of peace in an era marked by conflict.
