Naples, 23 Oct. (LaPresse) – In Naples this morning, the State Police carried out seven searches targeting seven individuals under investigation for offences against public order, as part of an inquiry into the possible organisation of a violent protest scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 24 October, in the city centre. During the searches, a folding knife with a blade measuring approximately 23 centimetres, aluminium batons, bolt cutters, a neck warmer and gloves were seized. The investigation was launched by the DIGOS unit of the Naples Police Headquarters, with the support of the local Cyber Security Operations Centre, following the incidents of violence that took place last weekend in northern Italy, particularly in Milan. By monitoring the internet and certain instant messaging platforms, investigators identified chat groups created a few days ago in which messages were being circulated inciting acts of violence, vandalism and looting during the potential demonstration. The investigations made it possible to trace the identities of several individuals believed to be responsible for disseminating the messages. The Naples Public Prosecutor’s Office subsequently ordered personal and home searches, which were carried out this morning by the police.
