Milan, Oct. 29 (LaPresse) – He was planning an attack on both a synagogue and a mosque in the Milan metropolitan area, after meticulously planning how to manufacture explosive devices and modify firearms. Carabinieri officers from the ROS Special Operations Group, together with personnel from the Milan Provincial Command, arrested a 22-year-old on charges of training for activities with terrorist purposes, including international terrorism. The arrest follows an investigation led by the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office, which uncovered his plans through an analysis of the suspect’s electronic devices. The examination of the 22-year-old’s devices provided evidence indicating serious grounds for suspicion regarding his ongoing self-training for terrorist purposes, his procurement of chemical substances that could have been used to manufacture explosive devices, and the dissemination and sharing of propaganda material and incitement to commit crimes. This included ideological proclamations described as a ‘testament’, writings and thoughts by Anders Breivik, the terrorist responsible for the 2011 massacres in Oslo and Utøya (Norway), containing supremacist, accelerationist, Holocaust-denial and xenophobic views.
