Rome, 1 Nov. (LaPresse) – “It’s a miracle that I’m still alive. All I remember is that it happened in a split second – a violent impact.” These are the words of Lieutenant-Colonel Flavio Favari, a medical officer and the sole survivor of the Italian Red Cross Medevac team involved in the military helicopter crash on 29 October in Bosnia, as part of the EUFOR Althea mission. Favari is being treated at Tuzla Hospital for fractures sustained in the crash, in which four Italian military personnel died, including two members of the Italian Red Cross Military Volunteer Corps: Lieutenant Commissioner Franco Adriano Zecchillo and Sergeant Laura Procacci. The medical officer thanked the representatives of the Red Cross of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, who visited him in hospital, as well as the national president of the Italian Red Cross, Rosario Valastro, who contacted him by telephone.
