Milan, 6 Nov. (LaPresse) – The Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office will not seek a review of the decision by investigating magistrate Tiziana Landoni, who last week refused to validate the detention of Youssef Siher, administrator of the ‘17 October Movement’s’ Instagram profile and Telegram chat group, ordering the immediate release of the political scientist from San Vittore prison. The Public Prosecutor’s Office is continuing its investigations to reconstruct the network of contacts of the 30-year-old, who is represented by lawyers Yasmina Abu Sharar and Benedetto Ciccarone and remains under investigation for incitement to commit a criminal offence, aggravated by the aim of terrorism and organised violence at public demonstrations. In the investigating judge’s view, Siher did not intend to replicate the violence of 17 and 18 October, but rather to call for ongoing protests. Furthermore, Siher had no intention of fleeing or evading the investigation, as he was born in Italy, where he has stable ties, and his contacts with various movements “do not indicate the existence of a concrete risk of flight”.
