Ukraine, Meloni: "First glimmer of hope from Trump-Putin conversation"

Rome, March 19 (LaPresse) – "Security guarantees for Ukraine? Yesterday, a long conversation took place between Trump and Putin. From what we have learned so far, one of the points discussed includes the possibility of a partial ceasefire limited to Ukraine’s strategic infrastructure, which has been systematically targeted by Russian bombings. I believe this would be the very first glimmer of hope, aligning with what had been previously agreed upon between Trump and Zelensky."

This is what Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated in the Chamber of Deputies during her reply after the debate on statements ahead of the European Council.

"We support President Trump’s efforts on the Ukraine dossier. In my view, he is a strong leader who can certainly create the conditions for a just and lasting peace," continued the Prime Minister, adding: "I have said and I reiterate that with this American administration, we will not witness scenes of Western weakness like those we saw in Afghanistan. The issue revolves around security guarantees, and we are doing our part. I have taken a stance that I believe has been clear."
