Mattarella: ‘Dignity of the person and not reason of State at the heart of the Republic’.

Rome, 4 April (LaPresse) – ‘Ours, like other Constitutions born from the Liberation of the continent from Nazi-fascism, is defined as a “personalist” Constitution, because it places the dignity of the person and not the reason of State at the centre of the Republic's action. And it is precisely the personalist principle and the community principle that make us say that subsidiarity – vertical subsidiarity but, even more so, horizontal subsidiarity – is, from the very beginning, fully within the constitutional design, indeed it is an explication of it'. Thus the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella meeting at the Quirinale with the President, Giorgio Vittadini, and a delegation of the Foundation for Subsidiarity.
