Flotilla, Meloni: ‘No benefit to Palestinians, only inconvenience to Italians’

Copenhagen (Denmark), Oct. 2 (LaPresse) – “I continue to believe that all this brings no benefit to the Palestinian people. On the other hand, it seems clear to me that it will cause many inconveniences to the Italian people — the same Italian people who, just yesterday, were being thanked by the Palestinians for the work we are doing.” This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, speaking about the Flotilla mission upon her arrival at the European Political Community summit in Copenhagen.
“I would remind you, for instance, that yesterday we were the first nation to open a corridor for researchers. I also remind you that we are the non-Islamic country that has evacuated the most people from Gaza to be treated in our hospitals, and we are one of the top nations in the world in delivering aid. All of this has been done thanks to the resources made available by the Italian people, who in the coming days, I fear, will face various inconveniences over an issue that, in my view, has little to do with the Palestinian cause and a lot to do with Italian domestic issues,” she added.
