Gaza, Tajani: ‘Agreement is first major step towards stability’

Milan, 9 October. (LaPresse) – ‘The peace agreement reached today marks a crucial moment in history. It is the first major step in a long process of stabilisation in the Middle East.’ This was written by Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani in a post on X. “The ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages and the agreed withdrawal of Israeli forces were the primary objectives of the negotiations. This effort was shared by the entire international community, in particular the United States, Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks for their strong commitment to this agreement. This effort was also supported by the Italian government, which, thanks to its humanitarian action, has always given hope for peace to those who have suffered over the past two years,” Tajani wrote. ‘I am proud of our diplomatic action, which is and always will be devoted to dialogue between all parties. An action that is never loud or violent, but always decisive and concrete. Our commitment in this direction will continue, to definitively stabilise the region, to stop the killing of civilians, to guarantee humanitarian assistance to those most in need and to rebuild the main and primary infrastructure in Gaza,’ he concludes.
