Verona explosion, Mattarella: “Dismay and deep sorrow”

Rome, Oct. 14 (LaPresse) – “I learned with dismay and deep sorrow the news of the death of the three members of the Carabinieri, Luogotenente Carica Speciale Marco Piffari, Carabiniere Scelto Davide Bernardello, and Brigadiere Capo Qualifica Speciale Valerio Daprà, overwhelmed by an explosion during an eviction operation in the province of Verona, in which other law enforcement and firefighters were also injured. In this dramatic circumstance, I express my heartfelt closeness to the Carabinieri and share my condolences with the families, together with wishes for a prompt recovery to the injured personnel,” said President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella in a message sent to the General Commander of the Carabinieri, Gen. C.A. Salvatore Luongo.
