Milan, 15 October (LaPresse) – ‘For the first time in these turbulent years, I can share a feeling of relief and hope for the future. The success of the peace initiative launched by the US president could truly be a historic turning point, changing the face of the Middle East and therefore the Mediterranean, with profound repercussions on security and national interests.’ So said Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in his report to the Chamber of Deputies on Gaza. ‘The success of the so-called Trump plan is still hanging by a thread. Many variables have yet to be defined, from the return of the bodies of the murdered hostages to the actual methods of dismantling the Hamas military structure or what remains of it,’ Tajani added. ‘In the last few hours, the reopening of the Rafah crossing has been announced to allow the transit of humanitarian aid.’ ‘Anti-Semitism must be fought everywhere and in every way, with all the force that democratic systems have at their disposal,’ stressed the Foreign Minister. ‘Stopping its spread is a solemn commitment that the government is making in this chamber,’ Tajani concluded.
