Rome, Oct. 28 (LaPresse) – “Ukrainian deaths are 520,000, Russian deaths more than 1 million. The difference is that Ukrainians know their losses, while the Russian people have no idea.” Defense Minister Guido Crosetto reveals these numbers, shared at NATO, for the first time in Bruno Vespa’s new book Finimondo, to be released Thursday, October 30, by Mondadori-RAI Libri.
“Regaining the territories lost in 2014 and after February 2022 is now considered impossible by everyone,” Crosetto continues in Vespa’s book. “Russia will never give them up, and Ukraine will not have the strength to reconquer them alone, even with our help. Putin cannot back down, also because he changed the constitution, making the occupied territories fully ‘Russian,’ putting himself in a position where he cannot negotiate.”
Vespa asks: Is Trump willing to endorse the cession of all territories? “The first suggestion from the U.S. President is to talk about concessions.” And could Ukraine ever admit to ceding the four occupied provinces?, Vespa insists. “I don’t know,” Crosetto responds. “It is up to them alone to decide whether the greater sacrifice is giving up territory or continuing a bloody war that could worsen.”
