Justice reform: PD-M5S-AVS call for signatures to be collected for a referendum

The parliamentary groups of the PD, M5S and AVS sent two identical letters to the Secretary General of the Chamber of Deputies and the Secretary General of the Senate to start collecting signatures for a referendum on the separation of careers. The letters, signed by the deputy vice-presidents of the groups – Simona Bonafè, Carmela Auriemma and Marco Grimaldi for the Chamber of Deputies, and Alfredo Bazoli, Alessandra Majorino and Tino Magni for the Senate – request that ‘the Offices of the Secretary General of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic prepare the forms for the collection and certification of the signatures necessary for the request for a popular referendum pursuant to Article 138, second paragraph, of the Constitution and Articles 4 and 6 of Law No. 352 of 25 May 1970, on the constitutional law “Provisions on the judicial system and the establishment of the Disciplinary Court”, approved by the Chamber of Deputies, in second deliberation, by an absolute majority of its members, at its sitting on 18 September 2025, and by the Senate of the Republic, in a second deliberation, with an absolute majority of its members, at its sitting on 30 October 2025, as published in Official Gazette No. 253 of 31 October 2025, pursuant to Article 3 of Law No. 352 of 25 May 1970. The letters propose Chiara Braga, Riccardo Ricciardi and Luana Zanella as deputies to file the referendum request with the Registry of the Court of Cassation, pursuant to Article 6, second paragraph, of Law No. 352 of 25 May 1970, and Francesco Boccia, Stefano Patuanelli and Peppe De Cristoforo as senators for the Senate. Riccardo Ricciardi and Luana Zanella for the Chamber of Deputies and Senators Francesco Boccia, Stefano Patuanelli and Peppe De Cristoforo for the Senate are proposed as delegates to file the referendum request with the Registry of the Court of Cassation, pursuant to Article 6, second paragraph, of Law No. 352 of 25 May 1970″.
