Milan, 3 November (LaPresse) – Five billion from banks for the budget? “Let’s say that if they close this year with more than 50 billion in profits, and those profits are made thanks to Italians who pay ATM fees and interest when they take out a loan or mortgage, a small portion of this enormous profit, which is unprecedented in the history of Italian banks, should be reinvested to help families and businesses in difficulty. If the entire majority could agree to ask for something more, I think it would be a good sign. An extra effort by the banks to hire and improve the pay and pensions of law enforcement officers. It would be a good thing.” So said the League’s deputy prime minister and minister of infrastructure and transport, Matteo Salvini, on “Cinque minuti” broadcast tonight on Rai1. “For example, with regard to law enforcement, hiring police officers and carabinieri, improving their salaries and pensions, paying for overtime and security in Italy, is an absolutely central issue,” he explained.
