Collapse of Torre dei Conti at the Imperial Forums, Giuli: ‘Extremely delicate situation, cautious optimism from rescuers’

(LaPresse) – ‘Since this morning, we have been closely following the extraordinary work of the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection, which, as you can see, is also warming our hearts as we stand alongside them.’ These were the words of Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli at the site of the search for the worker trapped in the collapse of the Torre dei Conti in Largo Corrado Ricci, a few steps from the Imperial Forums, this morning. ‘The security forces are working together, the commitment is unanimous, the situation is extremely delicate,’ he emphasised. ‘There is cautious optimism on the part of those who are working to save this life, and we are here and will remain here until we have something to communicate, hoping that it will be positive news, of course.’
