Rome, 14 November (LaPresse) – “They say that this manoeuvre favours the rich, and it really takes a lot of imagination, and even a little courage, to support such a thesis. This year, we have added a reduction in the tax rate for incomes ranging from €28,000 to €35,000, and the left is tearing its hair out because we are helping the rich. As if someone who earns €2,500 a month and has a mortgage to pay, perhaps supports three children, pays our bills, were a rich person to be beaten up.” So said the Prime Minister and leader of FdI, Giorgia Meloni, speaking at the Palapartenope in Naples at a rally in support of the candidate for president of the Campania Region, Edmondo Cirielli. ‘But the left has a new proposal, a wealth tax, because we have to hit the rich, but the question I have to ask is: since they are saying that we have favoured the rich with our budget and therefore consider people who earn €2,500 a month to be rich, is it these people we want to apply the wealth tax to? Please clarify this for us from the left, because it would be interesting to know, given that, of course, as long as we govern this nation, these bizarre and late-communist recipes will not pass. Our programme is diametrically opposed,” Meloni concluded.
