Rome, 18 Nov. (LaPresse) – “Strengthening European military capabilities is an unavoidable necessity. It has been for some time, and even more so in the current scenario. Talking about European strategic autonomy, Europe as a global player, and common defence, without addressing the issue of a massive investment effort, technology, rationalisation and strengthening of the European industrial system, is beating around the bush. It must be done. It must be done well. With resources, of course, but also with challenging political choices, starting with the development of joint military command and planning capabilities.” Thus, in an interview with Corriere della Sera, Lorenzo Guerini, president of Copasir and member of parliament for the Democratic Party. “I see divisions within the majority that are not good for Italy’s image of reliability, and I hope for clarity from the government. This is not the time for ambiguity or self-serving hesitation or positioning for supposed electoral gain. Putin is one of the ‘Dr Strangeloves” referred to by the head of state,’ he added.
