25 November, Meloni: ‘Violence against women is an act against everyone’s freedom’

Rome, 25 Nov. (LaPresse) – ‘Violence against women is an act against freedom. Everyone’s freedom. It is an intolerable phenomenon that continues to affect women and must be fought relentlessly.’ Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote this on X. ‘In recent years,’ Meloni writes, “we have passed very significant laws, increased penalties and strengthened the tools at our disposal, such as the “red code” and preventive measures. We have doubled funding for anti-violence centres and shelters, strengthened and made structural the freedom income, promoted the 1522 helpline, and carried out innovative education and awareness-raising activities. These are concrete steps forward, but we are not stopping there. We must continue to do much more, every day. To protect, to prevent, to support. To build an Italy where no woman ever has to feel alone, threatened or disbelieved again. The freedom and dignity of women are a duty of the state and a responsibility for all.”
