Rome, 30 November (LaPresse) – “The story behind the photo? I’m used to my posters being insulted, I’m also used to a lack of solidarity. Every time something similar has happened to one of my opponents, I have shown solidarity, but not for him, for the gesture. To say that that gesture is wrong. Solidarity is not shown for the person. I don’t care about solidarity for my burned photo, it was an ugly photo anyway. I would have torn it up myself if I had had it on my desk. Solidarity for the offended person is not given for the offended person. It is for the fact, to say that this is not the way to express ideas.” So said Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, speaking at the Casa Corriere event. Yesterday, during the demonstration in Rome, some members of the university student movement “Cambiarerotta” set fire to a US flag and a poster depicting Defence Minister Guido Crosetto with the words “we will not enlist”.
