Center-left, Conte: “Before discussing leadership, start with programs”

Milan, Dec. 4 (LaPresse) – “Defining our issues and priorities will allow us to bring clear and well-defined proposals to the coalition table to start discussions in the autumn. We have been working for some time to build a serious alternative to the right, but we are also convinced that for this alternative to be lasting and not collapse the day after the elections, we need to put our national project in writing,” said Giuseppe Conte, leader of the Five Star Movement, in an interview with Quotidiano Nazionale.

“I am confident that we will succeed, also because we are not starting from scratch,” he added, referring to the bills already presented in Parliament. On the center-left and how the prime minister candidate will be chosen, Conte said: “I have already said that it makes no sense to talk about leadership today: we want to start with the programs. First the process, first the issues, and then we will decide together on leadership as well. And as I have repeated many times, personal ambitions must never influence the success of the coalition.”
