Budget, Pd: “Meloni’s plan aims to raise funds to finance the election campaign”

Rome, Dec. 28 (LaPresse) – “The Meloni government’s economic plan is not a budget law for the country, but an operation to ‘raise funds’ with a single objective: to finance the next election campaign. A short-sighted and opportunistic move, pretending rigor today only to free itself from European constraints and return tomorrow, in the midst of the election campaign, to the era of reckless spending, without vision and without strategy.” This is what the Democratic Party’s leader in the Chamber Budget Committee, Ubaldo Pagano, said. “Without the resources from the NRR, Italy would already be in recession,” Pagano added. “It is a fact that exposes the failure of the so-called ‘Meloni recipe,’ incapable of addressing the country’s structural issues. Growth is fragile, industrial crises are increasing, tax pressure is at historic highs, and the government responds with new taxes: 600 million euros more from fuel alone, hitting families and workers. No serious investment in industry, innovation, and development. No real support for families, already collapsing under increasingly unsustainable healthcare costs. While public healthcare spending is increasing in Europe, Italy is going spectacularly against the trend, lowering it below 6% of GDP and passing the costs onto citizens.”
