Iran, Palazzo Chigi: “Strong concern, respect the rights and safety of protesters”

Rome, Jan. 13 (LaPresse) – “The Italian Government is following with strong concern the situation in Iran in recent days and the reports concerning the numerous deaths among protesters. Italy calls on the Iranian authorities to ensure respect for the rights of the people, including freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, and the safety of those demonstrating in the streets.” This was stated by Palazzo Chigi in a note, which added: “Together with European and G7 partners, the Italian Government continues to work for a positive resolution of the crisis, respectful of the Iranian people’s aspirations for freedom and equality of rights.”
