Healthcare: extension for doctors working in hospitals up to the age of 72 on a voluntary basis

Rome, 15 January (LaPresse) – Doctors and hospital managers will be able to remain in service until the age of 72 throughout 2026 on a voluntary basis. This has been confirmed by government sources following the announcement by the Minister for Relations with Parliament, Luca Ciriani. This is an extension of a provision already included in the Milleproroghe Decree, which expires at the end of 2025. It was not included in this year’s text but will be reinstated during parliamentary scrutiny.
