Defence, La7: Crosetto to write to the US and NATO following Trump’s remarks

Milan, 24 January. (LaPresse) – According to an exclusive report by Tg La7 at 8 p.m., Defence Minister Guido Crosetto will send a formal letter on Monday to the US Secretary of Defence and the NATO Secretary General in response to recent statements by US President Donald Trump on the role of NATO forces in Afghanistan and the commitment of allies, which are considered unacceptable for Italy’s contribution to the Afghan mission. Those words have sparked criticism of the dignity and sacrifices of Italian troops, and for this reason Crosetto – he wrote on X – has decided to respond with formal institutional action. The letter, according to TgLa7, also concerns the defence dossier under consideration by the government in more general terms.
