Bad weather, La Russa in Sicily: ‘I will return to verify that the saint is not being honoured.’

Milan, 25 January (LaPresse) – “I believe that the government’s commitment is not only to allocate the necessary resources, but also to try to act quickly. My friendly appeal, which is not a reproach, is an appeal to the media even before the government, which is meeting tomorrow, to give an account of what has happened and of the need to rebuild quickly. Then we need the cooperation of the mayors and all citizens and institutions. As I am no stranger to this area, I will return here regularly, periodically, to check that once the celebrations are over, the saint is not forgotten’. This was said by the President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, speaking to reporters today during a visit to several towns in Sicily, Letojanni, Mazzeo, Acitrezza and Catania, which were hit by bad weather in recent days. “I would like to launch a major solidarity campaign, including fundraising, with the help of television and newspapers. I hope the media will do this, and I will follow suit,” he added.
