Bill on violence against women, Schlein: ‘I told Meloni to stop, Bongiorno’s bill is inadmissible’

Rome, 28 January (LaPresse) – “The text presented by Bongiorno is inadmissible and represents a serious step backwards compared to the agreement made by myself and President Meloni. Did we speak? Of course, but I did not say so publicly. It is a step backwards from the established case law of the Court of Cassation and the ECHR on “consent”, which is different from “dissent”: dissent places more weight on the shoulders of victims.‘ So said PD secretary Elly Schlein during a press conference in the Chamber of Deputies. ’There is not a single comma that has been negotiated with the PD, not one,‘ she insisted. ’They have betrayed an agreement that was made, and that is their problem.”
