Niscemi, Musumeci briefing in the Council of Ministers: ‘Data acquisition with Cosmo-Skymd satellite service’

Rome, 29 January (LaPresse) – At today’s meeting of the Council of Ministers, “the Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policy, Nello Musumeci, provided information on the situation in the municipality of Niscemi and the consequences of Cyclone Harry on the territories of Calabria, Sardinia and Sicily. Work is underway to restore essential services and, in the municipality of Niscemi, technical activities are being carried out to assess the residual risk associated with the landslide, with a team of technicians and the support of the “Centre for Civil Protection of the University of Florence”, the use of drones and a request to the Italian Space Agency (ASI) to activate the Cosmo-Skymed satellite service in order to acquire the data necessary to assess the speed of the movement’. This is what we read in the final communiqué of the Council of Ministers.
