Reforms, Lega: ‘Anti-traitor proposal, constitutional mandate restriction’

Rome, 7 February (LaPresse) – ‘The League has prepared an “anti-traitor” bill to amend Article 67 of the Constitution. The aim is to prevent defections, which numbered almost 300 in the last legislature.’ The party based in Via Bellerio made this known, specifying: ‘In the reformulation proposed by the League, Article 67 would change as follows: “Every member of Parliament represents the Nation and exercises his or her functions under a binding mandate. Members of Parliament who, at the beginning of their term or during the legislature, join a parliamentary group representing a political party or movement other than the one to which they belonged at the time of election shall forfeit their parliamentary mandate.”’
