Rome, 13 March (LaPresse) – “I am optimistic and believe the ‘yes’ vote will win, but if the ‘no’ vote were to win, I don’t think it would be a major blow to the government, because this is not a referendum on the government. We will carry on; we will continue to do what we have been doing. The polls suggest that today there is a majority of voters supporting the centre-right, a solid government that has restored credibility to our country. We were the only ones to have repatriated almost thirty thousand Italian citizens in the midst of a conflict that threatened the safety of so many; we have demonstrated great efficiency; we have regained a leading role in Europe alongside Germany; we have truly become the driving force within Europe for industrial policy. So I would say that this government has achieved a great deal, will achieve much more in its final year, and the referendum vote will certainly not change the government’s course. I am convinced that in the end the ‘yes’ vote will prevail and Italy will have a fairer justice system, and the many magistrates who have decided to vote ‘yes’ will also be pleased.” So said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on ‘10 minuti’ on Rete 4.
