Rome, 24 March (LaPresse) – “A few days ago, at the Sturzo Institute, we jointly presented the correspondence between Andreotti and Cossiga. It is indeed sad to see how things have taken a turn for the worse. I remember him as clear-headed, brilliant and witty. And he chose to conclude with something completely unrelated, namely a call to vote ‘No’. I regret that I was unable to see how it all turned out. He would have been pleased.” These were the words of former Prime Minister Massimo D’Alema outside the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Mary in the Parioli district of Rome following the funeral of the historic Christian Democrat politician Palo Cirino Pomicino, who passed away at the age of 87.
